Image Co-registration from DICOM geometry parameters

Image overlay position and orientation is initially determined from the DICOM header information. This means that correct coregistration is only achieved if all images where originally loaded as DICOM images. If data is in nifti format, coregistration information cannot be saved.

Note that this approach will only provide accurate co-registration when the overlay and underlay images were acquired in the same session and when no significant head movement occurred between the acquisition of the respective scans. If significant head motion occurred between the scans, or the scans were acquired in different sessions, manual or automatic co-registration must be performed.
