Definitions

Image 

A single 2D image. Can appear alone or as part of an image series or volume.

Image window

A window displaying one or multiple images.

Image volume

A multi-slice (3D) dataset displayed as multiple (scrollable) images in an image window. 

Image series

A number of inter-related images (typically from the same patient / examination) displayed in a single image window. An image series can e.g. be a single image volume, a single image or an image volume acquired at multiple time-points or acquired with different image parameters (echo time, inversion time, diffusion factor, etc).

Data set

A collection of inter-related images. The images need not be loaded into nordicICE.
